Aluminum Die Cast Housing with Machined Mounting Faces

This case note is written from the RFQ review stage. The buyer needed an aluminum housing, but the decisive points were not the outside shape. The important areas were the mounting faces, threaded holes, wall thickness around bosses, and whether the die casting route left enough allowance for CNC machining.

Drawing Evaluation

We first checked wall thickness, ribs, bosses, draft direction, screw columns, and the surfaces that needed machining. The review focused on whether the design could support die casting without creating avoidable porosity or weak areas near machined features.

Process Selection

Die casting made sense because the part was an aluminum housing with repeat demand and a need for stable external shape. We still treated the machined faces as the controlling requirement, not as an afterthought.

Machining and Inspection

The CNC review covered machining allowance, datum selection, threaded holes, flatness, and inspection records for the buyer’s assembly surfaces. These points were confirmed before the sample discussion.
