Lightweight does not mean simple
Small UAV housings often have thin walls, ribs, and bosses. If the casting route is chosen only by shape, the buyer may get distortion or weak areas after machining.
Assembly depends on the machined surfaces
The mounting face, connector opening, and threaded holes decide whether the part fits. Those details need review before the quotation is confirmed.
What We Reviewed Before Quotation
- Whether ribs, bosses, and thin walls can fill cleanly without adding unnecessary weight.
- Which surfaces should become machining datums instead of relying on raw casting surfaces.
- Whether the drawing calls out holes and threads that need post-casting CNC machining.
- How visible surfaces and machined faces should be protected before export shipment.
What to Send for a Similar RFQ
- 2D drawing and 3D model if available, including tolerances for machined areas.
- Material grade, working condition, expected quantity, and whether samples are required first.
- Machining notes for holes, threads, bearing seats, sealing faces, datums, or visible surfaces.
- Inspection documents required by the buyer, such as material report, CMM report, pressure/leakage test, or surface finish notes.
